Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) FAQs

Two-Factor Authentication FAQs

Two-Factor Authentication is an additional way of confirming it is really you when you sign into a product.

In addition to your email address and password, you will be sent a unique 6-digit verification code to your authenticator app. You will need to enter your email address, password and the unique code when signing into the product to verify your identity.

Signing in will now be a two-step process:

  1. Enter your email address and password
  2. Enter the unique verification code to verify your identity

Draycir ID is your secure identity that you use to sign into Draycir products such as Credit Hound Cloud. When setting up Two-Factor Authentication on your authenticator app, your 6-digit verification code will appear under the name Draycir ID.

An authenticator app is downloaded on a mobile device or desktop computer, and generates a unique 6-digit code, allowing you to sign into your Draycir product.

Draycir supports most authenticator apps including Microsoft Authenticator and Google Authenticator. You can download these apps from the App Store on Apple devices or from Google Play on Android devices.

You could also install an authenticator app on your desktop for those apps that also offer a desktop version, such as Authy

You can install an authenticator app on your desktop. Authy, for example, also has a desktop authenticator app for Windows and MacOS devices.

  • Step 1: Your Administrator enables Two-Factor Authentication for all users in the Draycir Product.
  • Step 2: When you attempt to sign you will have a second step to make your account safer.
  • Step 3: Download and install an authenticator app onto your phone or mobile device and scan the QR code on screen. (Alternatively, if you cannot scan the QR code, click Enter code manually and follow the instructions on screen.)
  • Step 4: Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app (listed under Draycir ID) and click Verify.
  • Step 5: You will be shown a recovery code. Store the recovery code somewhere safe and click Continue to sign in.

No. The authenticator app you install on your device does not require an internet connection. Authenticator apps automatically generate new codes that are valid for approx. 30 seconds.

You can only use a single authenticator app, however, it can be installed on multiple devices. If your authenticator app doesn’t sync across multiple devices, during the setup process you can scan the same QR code on all the devices you wish to use.

No. The 6-digit verification code can only be used once and will refresh after 30 seconds so you need to input a new code each time.

Note: The 6-digit verification code is not the same as your Recovery Code you receive when setting up Two-Factor Authentication. Recovery codes are used to sign in when you do not have access to your authenticator app.

Two-Factor Authentication is enabled for all users of a product. Please contact your Administrator as they can deactivate Two-Factor Authentication for all users in the product settings.

You will need to set up and use Two-Factor Authentication if your Administrator has enabled this within your Draycir product.

When Two-Factor Authentication is set up, you will be presented with a Recovery Code. You will need to keep this code stored securely as this code will allow you to sign in if you don’t have access to your authenticator app.

Important:

  • A Recovery Code can only be used once.
  • If you sign in with a Recovery Code, you will be presented with a new Recovery Code that you should store securely for future use if needed.

Your Recovery Code will allow you to get access to your account. Because of this you must keep it secure and not lose it. We recommend you store the Recovery Code in a secure password manager or in Cloud based storage where it can be accessed in the event it is required.

You can install your authenticator app on multiple devices. If the authenticator app cannot be accessed across your devices, then the backup method would be to use your stored Recovery Code.

Once used, a new Recovery Code will be generated for you and must be stored securely.

Use your recovery code and click the ‘I want to reset my 2FA’ checkbox to re-configure Two-Factor Authentication on another device. This will allow you to reset your Two-Factor Authentication by scanning the QR code again.

If you use Google Authenticator, you can transfer your existing configuration to your new phone. Read more on how to transfer your Google Authenticator configuration to a new Android or Apple device here.

Other authenticator apps may also allow you to transfer your configuration. Please check their product documentation.

First, please try using your Recovery Code to sign in and re-configure Two-Factor Authentication.

If you have lost your Recovery Code, please contact Draycir Support and we will be in touch with the next steps.
